Today marks the launch of the electronic volume “The Formation of the Cultural Identity of the Young Generation in the Albanian-Speaking Space under the Influence of German Language and Culture”, produced within the framework of the research project of the same title and funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI).
The project was carried out by Prof. Dr. Vjosa Hamiti, professor at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Prishtina and project leader, Prof. Asst. Arlinda Dushi and MA Arbnora Bajraktari (PhD candidate), project members, as well as Prof. Dr. Brikena Kadzadej from the University of Tirana, who served as the external expert of the project. Students of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Prishtina also contributed to the realization of the project: Uridije Lajçi (PhD candidate), Agnesa Haklaj (PhD candidate), Vanesa Asllani (MA), and Leandra Pireva (MA).
As of today, this electronic volume is available in PDF format and as an E-book/EPUB. To ensure broader accessibility and readership, the volume has been published in two languages: Albanian and German.
The publication brings together the essays of 37 master’s students, 19 from the University of Prishtina and 18 from the University of Tirana, who examine the influence of German language and culture on the formation of the cultural identity of the younger generation in Kosovo and Albania.
The volume is grounded in contemporary theoretical approaches to identity, multilingualism, and interculturality, while the reflective essays present personal experiences and concrete processes of identity formation in the context of globalization, migration, and cultural contact.
The study demonstrates that, for the young Albanian-speaking generation, the German language is perceived not only as a means of communication or as an instrument of academic and professional mobility, but also as a space in which identity is reformulated, expanded, and consolidated.
This volume represents an important empirical and narrative corpus that may serve as a relevant basis for researchers, students, and further studies in the fields of identity studies, multilingualism, sociolinguistics, interculturality, and other related disciplines.
