As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting constructive dialogue and addressing contemporary challenges in the digital space, the University of Prishtina hosted the “Peace Café” event on 25 March 2026.
The activity was organised במסגרת the project “Youth-Led Digital Peacebuilding to Counter Online Radicalization”, funded by RYCO - Regional Youth Cooperation Office, with the aim of creating an open and inclusive space for young people to engage in discussions on digital peace and the challenges of online radicalisation.
The event took place at the premises of the Career Development Center, located within the National Library of Kosovo “Pjetër Bogdani”, bringing together students and participants interested in contributing to a positive and responsible online discourse.
The organisation of the event was supported by student organisers Lendita Humolli (MA student, first year, Political Philosophy - Faculty of Philosophy) and Ylli Rakipi (fourth year, Social Work - Faculty of Philosophy), who contributed to its successful implementation.
During the event, participants engaged in interactive discussions addressing key topics such as the impact of radicalisation on social media, the role of youth in promoting peace, and practical approaches to fostering healthy and responsible communication across digital platforms.
Notable contributions to the discussion were made by students Ilirjada Fejza (fourth year, Political Science - University of Prishtina), Era Bujupaj, and Edison Sylejmani, who shared their perspectives on the importance of building a safer and more inclusive digital environment.
In addition, Erza Uka (fourth year, English Language and Literature - Faculty of Philology) actively contributed to the discussion, offering reflections on the role of communication in shaping a positive online environment.
The event continued with a networking session in an informal setting, providing participants with the opportunity to exchange ideas and build collaborative connections.
This activity aimed to strengthen the role of students as active contributors in promoting peace and countering radicalising content in digital spaces, while encouraging critical thinking and civic engagement.
Mr. Burim Korça - Executive Director and trainer at the Institute for Peace and Security - emphasised: “Such discussions are essential for raising awareness among young people about their influence in the digital space and empowering them as promoters of peace”.
Erza Uka stated: “This activity gave me a new perspective on how we can contribute to creating a safer and more positive online environment”.
Edison Sylejmani added: “It was a very valuable experience that helped me better understand the challenges of radicalisation and the importance of open dialogue”.
Activities of this nature form part of the University of Prishtina’s ongoing efforts to promote democratic values, intercultural dialogue, and sustainable societal development through education and active student engagement.
This activity was implemented by the Institute for Peace and Security and supported by RYCO - Regional Youth Cooperation Office.
