At the Senate meeting held on Friday, May 22, 2026, several important decisions were made to support the ongoing growth and development of the University of Prishtina.
The senators unanimously approved the admission process for new students at the bachelor’s and master’s levels for the 2026/2027 academic year. This introduces a new approach of planning and starting key processes early to ensure smooth procedures at the university.
As in previous meetings, the Senate approved appointments from open competitions, re-elections, and promotions of academic staff based on the needs of the faculties. Additional competitions for hired professors and assistants were also approved.
The request from the Faculty of Philosophy to invite visiting Professor Harald Floss from the University of Tübingen, one of Germany’s oldest universities, was approved. Professor Floss will teach at the faculty during the upcoming academic year starting September 15.
The senators canceled the previous decision to establish an evaluation committee for a position in the Faculty of Philosophy and instead elected new members to this committee to avoid potential conflicts of interest. The new committee will include Professor Florian Bieber from the University of Graz, Professor Isa Blumi, a professor at Stockholm University, and also associated with the University of Prishtina, and Professor Vjollca Krasniqi from the University of Prishtina.
The Senate approved four research topics and mentors for doctoral students, ratified three additional research topics, and completed the work of the Complaints and Appeals Commission.
