During its session on January 28, 2026, the Senate of the University of Prishtina approved the affiliation of Professor Besnik Pula from Virginia Tech.
Professor Pula’s appointment was processed under the Regulation on Transfer, the ‘Brain Gain’ program, and special hiring provisions approved by the Senate in April 2025. To date, these regulations have facilitated the appointment of four professors as adjunct faculty.
In a significant milestone, the Senate unanimously approved a formal oath for PhD graduates. This oath will be taken and signed by graduates during their commencement ceremonies. The Senate also approved a standard framework for scheduling university competitions related to appointments, promotions, reappointments, and awards.
The Senate revisited the documents for position number 7 (assistant professor) in a May 2023 competition at the Faculty of Philosophy and decided to return the case to the Ethics Council for further review.
It was also decided that any suspected violations by evaluation committees during appointment or promotion processes will now be automatically forwarded to the Ethics Council.
Several proposals for the appointment and promotion of academic staff in the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and Faculty of Medicine were reviewed and approved. Furthermore, the Senate appointed three of its members to a Commission tasked with drafting the University's 2026–2031 Strategic Plan.
Additional decisions included replacing one member of the Ethics Council and one member on each of two other committees, as well as approving several doctoral dissertation topics.
