In 2025, academic staff of the University of Prishtina’s Faculty of Arts participated in three scientific conferences (two international and one regional), with financial backing of €2,700 from the University of Prishtina.

Throughout the year, the Faculty of Arts continued its mission of organizing, participating in, and supporting a wide range of cultural and artistic activities. The faculty’s academic staff also broadened and deepened their professional ties with colleagues from well-known universities across the region, Europe, and beyond.

In July 2025, as part of the Prishtina International Summer University, the second edition of the “Upward” Student Film Festival was launched. The festival showcased films by Faculty of Arts students and their international peers, and it hosted workshops and discussions on various topics related to filmmaking.

One summer university course, dedicated to low-budget film special effects, was co-taught by Professor Ricardo Spencer de Albuquerque from the Professional School of Audiovisual Training in Vigo, Spain, and Professor Blerim Gjinovci from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Prishtina.

The year also featured the fifteenth edition of Chopin Piano Fest Prishtina 2025, organized by Faculty of Arts professors Lejla Haxhiu-Pula and Besa Luzha. The festival welcomed pianists and artists from Kosovo, Albania, Poland, Austria, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Croatia, Luxembourg, Italy, France, Cuba, and Sweden.

Throughout 2025, the Faculty of Arts’ academic staff and leadership visited colleagues at partner universities, and several joint exhibitions and other collaborative activities took place.

Nearly every major event in Kosovo and in Albanian communities across the Western Balkans, especially those with an artistic dimension, involves professors from the Faculty of Arts or notable figures who began their careers there. Professor Shyqri Nimani hand-calligraphed the Kosovo Declaration of Independence, proclaimed on February 17, 2008, while the official logo for the 100th anniversary of Albania’s independence was created by Professor Zeni Ballazhi.
