In 2025, the academic staff of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering published eight scientific papers and took part in three conferences. This research and conference activity was supported by the University of Prishtina with a total of €10,427.50.
Throughout the year, the faculty dedicated its efforts to advancing and sharing knowledge through scientific publications, conferences, and international cooperation.
Marking its 58th anniversary this year, the faculty's staff published eight scientific papers in journals indexed by Web of Science and Scopus. Of these, five papers appeared in the SCIE, SSCI, and AHCI categories of Web of Science, and three in Scopus, spread across quartiles Q1 to Q4 (one in Q1, none in Q2, one in Q3, and one in Q4).
The University of Prishtina provided €7,500 in support for these publications. Additionally, FIM staff organized or participated in three scientific conferences during 2025, which received €2,927.50 in funding from the university.
The faculty was active in numerous regional and international collaborative projects, built connections with industry and the job market, and modernized its teaching methods to keep pace with continuous technological change.
A highlight of the year was FIM's inaugural International Congress of Mechanical Engineering, which gathered professors, professionals, entrepreneurs, and students from UP, the region, and across the globe to connect and share ideas.
One faculty professor, Prof. Arbnor Pajaziti, patented a mechanical ventilator with a regulating drive link in 2024 at Kosovo's Industrial Property Agency. This innovative device connects the fields of mechatronics, industry, and medicine, and was developed with the assistance of a former faculty student, Petrit Avdyli.
The concept for the ventilator, which was funded by the EU and the University of Prishtina's Rectorate, originated during the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, a time of remote learning when such equipment was in critically short supply.
