On October 29, 30, and 31, 2025, the University of Prishtina, through its Division for Academic Development, Quality, Monitoring, and Career, in cooperation with the Kosovo Tourist Guides Association (GUIDEKS), organised the three-day training titled "Basics of the Tourist Guide Profession."

This training was delivered to 35 certified students, equipping them with in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of tourist guiding, including guiding techniques and applicable professional standards. The students praised the training as an informative and inspiring platform that offered networking opportunities and a chance to exchange experiences with seasoned guides in Kosovo.

The training was conducted by certified trainers from GUIDEKS, who are recognised by the European Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (FEG), as well as by professionals from tourism-related fields. Theoretical lectures were combined with practical field sessions, giving students the opportunity to directly apply their acquired knowledge.

Muhamet Hasani, Director of GUIDEKS, expressed his satisfaction with the student training. "This training is an important step for promoting the tourist guide profession in Kosovo. We strongly believe that certifying and educating new generations will raise professional standards and strengthen local tourism," said Hasani.

Enes Toska, a GUIDEKS trainer, commended the dedication of the trainees. "Beyond theoretical knowledge, the students had the opportunity to practice guiding firsthand in the field. Their energy and engagement were exceptional, and this training served as a real professional experience," stated Toska.

Prof. Artan Krasniqi, a lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy who gave a lecture as part of the training, emphasized that "This training is an excellent example of academic and professional cooperation. For students, this is an opportunity to deeply understand the importance of tourist guiding and to develop practical skills that are not taught in lecture halls alone."

At the conclusion of the training, with the help of the trainers, the students produced a tourist map of the university campus to aid the navigation of visitors and tourists in this part of the city. The high-quality map can be downloaded here: PR map UP GKS

The participating students were enthusiastic about the experience. Lorik Vokshi, a student at the Faculty of Architecture, said the training motivated him to engage further in the field of tourism. "This training gave me valuable knowledge and a clear perspective on the challenges and opportunities of the tourist guide profession. I am motivated to continue exploring this field and to contribute to the development of tourism in Kosovo," said Vokshi.

Qëndresa Dili, a student at the Faculty of Philosophy in the Department of Sociology, emphasized that "This training was not just a learning opportunity; it was an experience that touched my soul and gave me the courage to achieve more. I wholeheartedly hope our paths cross again in new projects and beautiful moments, where we can once more share knowledge, smiles, and inspiration."

The University of Prishtina, in cooperation with GUIDEKS and other partners, remains committed to providing professional and educational opportunities that help students develop in new and attractive professions such as that of a tourist guide.
