The Deputy Ambassador of Austria to Kosovo, Ms. Clarissa Castek, reaffirmed the excellent relations between the University of Prishtina (UP), Austrian higher education institutions, and the Austrian state during a meeting held at UP.
The UP leadership informed the distinguished guest about a cooperation memorandum currently being finalized with the Medical University of Graz.
The Kosovo Center for Research, Simulation, and Advanced Training at the University of Prishtina (QKSTK), which was established by UP and the Kosovo College of Surgeons on July 17, 2025, will cooperate with this university. The center aims to become a regional hub for training, skill development, and the application of the most modern tools and methods in the fields of surgery, emergencies, and trauma.
Discussions also covered the need for the further development and strengthening of the Austrian library within the premises of the Department of German Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology, with mention of the 1997 agreement between the Austrian side and the University of Prishtina.
Rector Prof. Dr. Arben Hajrullahu thanked Deputy Ambassador Castek for the continuous and unwavering assistance Austria provides to UP and for the sustained partnership between the University of Prishtina and Austrian universities.
Substantial support from numerous Austrian organizations and institutions reaches UP through its cooperation with the ShERProgram (Sustainable Higher Education and Research in Kosovo), under a memorandum signed in November 2024. This follows a visit by the Austrian Ambassador to Kosovo, Georg Schnetzer, to the University of Prishtina in November of last year.
