As part of ongoing efforts to promote brain gain, the 19th meeting of the University of Prishtina Senate paved the way for evaluating an applicant from abroad for the Department of Mechatronics within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The Senate unanimously approved the international commission and the appeals committee to assess this candidate’s application, in accordance with Articles 3 and 6 of the Regulation on Transfers, the Brain Gain program, and cases of exceptional need for academic recruitment. Under this regulation, individuals applying to join the University of Prishtina (UP) must have completed a degree at one of the world’s top 400 universities, as ranked by Times Higher Education or QS World University Rankings, and meet the criteria for appointment and advancement at UP, based on its statute and regulations.

Senate members also unanimously agreed on two new positions in the Balkan Studies program within the Faculty of Philology, aiming to reaccredit this department. Competitions for these two posts will be announced in the coming days.

Additionally, senators amended three other regulations: the Regulation on the Ombudsperson’s Office; the Regulation on Decision-Making Processes and Procedures for Selecting Honorary Title Recipients, Awards for Outstanding Students, and Recognitions; and the Regulation on Evaluation Procedures for Engaging External Collaborators.

The meeting addressed differential exams, ratified two doctoral dissertations, and approved two new doctoral research topics proposed by the Central Council of Doctoral Studies. A commission was also appointed to draft the Regulation for the University of Prishtina Summer School.

Finally, the Senate approved a call for applications to fill remaining vacancies for external collaborators at UP and was informed of the resignation of a member of the Ethics Council.
