Last week, the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Exchange at the University of Prishtina, Prof. Rozafa Basha, along with members of the management and professors of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FIEK), conducted an intensive, productive, and inspiring visit to Luxembourg.

The delegation from UP participated in an official visit to the University of Luxembourg (UL), during which activities included attending the SnT Partnership Day and holding several meetings focused on future cooperation, research collaboration, and opportunities to further strengthen the partnership between the two institutions.

A constructive and open meeting with UL’s Vice-Rector for Partnerships and International Relations, Professor Marie-Hélène Jobin, took place. The discussion occurred in a warm and friendly atmosphere, emphasizing the trust, friendship, and productive collaboration built over the past two years. The participants explored concrete possibilities for continuing and expanding cooperation, including potential joint projects under Horizon Europe.

A very important part of the visit was attending progress presentations by six FECE students from the University of Prishtina, currently conducting research for their master’s theses in cybersecurity at UL under co-supervision from SnT professors. Additionally, the delegation listened to the presentation of a PhD research plan by a UP student who, last year, participated in the same master’s thesis cohort and is now pursuing PhD studies at UL. These interactions demonstrate the gradual creation of continuity in collaboration and the opening of new academic and research pathways for UP students and young researchers.

During their stay in Luxembourg, the delegation also visited the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, the national institution of Luxembourg for coordination and competence in the cybersecurity field, along with the LHoFT – Luxembourg House of Financial Technology, and the AI Experience Center, part of the LHoFT. All of this was very impressive for the delegation. These visits created an opportunity to see firsthand Luxembourg’s strategic investments in innovation, artificial intelligence, and technology-driven entrepreneurship.

The visit was organized and supported by SnT and LuxDev as part of the ongoing collaboration between the University of Prishtina and the University of Luxembourg.

Professors Marcus Voelp and Carlo Duprel are two professors from the SnT Center at the University of Luxembourg who delivered lectures at the first edition of the University of Prishtina’s Winter School for Doctoral Studies, “Warm UP.”
