The team from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, which won two awards at the well-known international competition "TCIP Earthquake-Resistant Building Design Competition," was welcomed and congratulated by the Rector of the University of Prishtina.
During this important international event for civil engineering students, models of tall buildings are tested on a shaking table to see how well they can withstand earthquakes.
The multi-story structure built by master's students in the Construction program performed very well during earthquake simulations, outperforming all other models in the competition.
The students Arbias Begaj, Arianita Demiri, Endrit Vuniqi, Fisnik Tërshana, Lirigzon Murseli, and Sadik Veseli guided by their professors Zijadin Guri and Guxim Rrudhani, took part in the event held in Istanbul, from May 13 to 15, 2026. They received two awards: the "Best Earthquake Performance Special Award " and the "Best Competition Spirit Special Award," competing against teams from 25 universities around the world.
The "Best Competition Spirit Special Award" was given to the students based on the votes of their fellow participants.
Accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Prof. Florim Grajçevci, Professor Guri, and Vice Dean Shkumbin Makolli, the students were welcomed by the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Prof. Arben Hajrullahu.
Congratulating the FIN team on their success, Rector Hajrullahu encouraged the students and their professors to share all their ideas with the Rectorate, so that good initiatives can be supported and promoted. Dean Grajçevci emphasized that the faculty’s academic staff constantly works to ensure the highest quality of education. He described winning these awards as a source of motivation and inspiration, as well as a reminder of their increased responsibility.
Almost a month ago, students from the Faculty of Arts, who entered the Oberhausen Film Festival with their film, were also welcomed at the Rectorate. A formal reception was held for the team from the Faculty of Law, which finished in sixth place at the international "Nuremberg Moot Court 2025" competition.
