The University of Prishtina and the Organization of Kosovar-Austrian Alumni will strengthen their partnership through a more formal and organized framework, with the signing of a memorandum today.
The goal of this agreement is to deepen academic, scientific, and cultural connections between the Republic of Kosovo and Austria. The two parties will cooperate on joint activities that promote shared projects, academic exchanges, and initiatives that encourage innovation, international cooperation, and sustainable development in higher education.
The memorandum was signed by Professor Arben Hajrullahu, Rector of the University of Prishtina, and Mr. Jeton Mehmeti, Chairman of the Board of the Organization of Kosovar-Austrian Alumni.
Rector Hajrullahu noted that Austria has historically and significantly supported the University of Prishtina more than any other country. Mr. Mehmeti highlighted that this agreement represents a major institutional step and a meaningful achievement for the Organization of Kosovar-Austrian Alumni.
Founded in 2021 and supported by the Austrian SHER Program and the Austrian Embassy in Kosovo, OKAA currently has 75 members who have graduated from or conducted research at Austrian universities. Its members are active across higher education, public institutions, civil society, media, and the private sector.
Many current professors and leaders at all levels of the University of Prishtina have studied in Austria, and the cooperation between the university and Austrian institutions continues to be strong and productive.
