The "Research Modalities in the Venice Archives" project, which is also a bilateral initiative between Kosovo and Albania, facilitated an agreement between the National Library of Kosovo, "Pjetër Budi," and the Venice National Library, Marciana. This is the first such agreement with Italy in the field of librarianship.

Since Kosovo currently does not have study programs in Librarianship and Archival Studies, this agreement is especially significant. It also enabled intensive training for the staff of the National Library of Kosovo at the Marciana Library. The Didactics Department of the Marciana Library is known for its high standards of professionalism in training librarians and archivists.

The Venice National Library, Marciana, is one of Europe’s most prestigious libraries, holding rare catalogs and manuscripts dating back to the Middle Ages. It is particularly renowned for its catalogs in the field of music, which opens many opportunities for collaboration among researchers in the humanities and arts.

The project at the University of Prishtina, coordinated by Professor Majlinda Bregasi, is led by the well-known Venetian scholar Lucia Nadin. The project also involves Professor Dr. Albulena Blakaj, Professor Dr. Hazir Haziri, and Associate Professor Abdulla Rexhepi.

The results and recommendations of this bilateral research project, supported by MASHTI, will be shared publicly soon. In 2025, when the University of Prishtina celebrated its 55th anniversary, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Library of Kosovo, “Pjetër Budi.”
