The Language Center of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Prishtina organized an event in cooperation with the Japanese Foundation in Budapest and the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo. The event provided detailed information about study opportunities in Japan and the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).

During the event, the unique elements of Japanese culture and traditions were highlighted. These included the traditional kimono worn during special ceremonies, the art of origami with its various folded paper shapes, and an introductory session in the Japanese language.

Through Japan’s rich heritage and beautiful landscapes, students were guided by Ayaka Kishino, a representative of the Japanese Foundation in Budapest. She shared videos, quizzes, and Japanese music to bring the culture to life. Also present from the foundation were Mr. Masanori Takaguchi, the director, and senior Japanese language advisor Mr. Yasuhiro Yashima.

The opening speech was delivered by Professor Linditë Sejdiu, Coordinator of the Language Center at UP. Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo, Hiroyasu Tanigaki, also addressed the audience. Dressed in a kimono called "Happi," he briefly shared some interesting facts about Japan.

The University of Prishtina continues to work closely with Japanese universities, professors, and organizations to strengthen cultural and academic ties.

In June 2025, the university awarded Professor Hisashi Owada the honorary title of “Doctor Honoris Causa” in recognition of his outstanding academic work, lifelong dedication to international law, and efforts to promote global peace.

Last July, during the 24th edition of the Prishtina International Summer University, two Japanese professors also participated as part of the courses.

The Language Center at the Faculty of Philology offers Japanese language courses, and the Japanese Book Corner is active within the University Central Library.
