A group of professors, doctoral students, and researchers from the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences at the Faculty of Science, University of Pécs in Hungary, along with Professor Arsim Ejupi from the Department of Geography, visited the Rectorate of the University of Prishtina to explore ways to strengthen cooperation.
The Hungarian delegation was welcomed by Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Academic Development, Professor Rozafa Basha, who briefed the visitors on the history, current achievements, and future plans of the University of Prishtina.
During the meeting, Vice-Rector Basha expressed her appreciation for the ongoing cooperation between UP and Hungarian universities. She also mentioned that the university works with many higher education institutions across Europe, the United States, and several Asian countries.
Professor Peter Remenyi, head of the Hungarian delegation and director of the Institute of Geography, shared that the University of Pécs has around 25,000 students, of whom about 5,700 are international students. He added that most study programs at the university are also available in English, and noted that one of the students is from the University of Prishtina.
Hungarian professors, doctoral students, and researchers are currently in Kosovo as part of a research expedition across the Western Balkans, titled “Travelling around ‘Albanian Lands’ Divided by state borders.” They are accompanied by Professor Arsim Ejupi from the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
As part of this expedition, Professors Peter Remenyi and Norbert Pap gave a lecture to students of the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Science, titled “Political Geography of Hungary: Contemporary Geopolitical Challenges and Strategic Orientation.”
In June 2025, the University of Prishtina signed cooperation agreements with six Hungarian universities.
