Professors from the academic diaspora who are affiliated with the University of Prishtina (UP) and work at 400 of the world’s top universities have begun delivering lectures to UP students on a wide range of topics, sometimes in person and sometimes online via distance learning platforms.

Just recently, at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Philosophy, distinguished oncologist and Ohio State University Professor Dr. Dukagjin Blakaj, and former UP student now professor at Dublin City University (DCU), Dr. Gëzim Visoka, gave lectures in their respective fields of expertise.

Professor Visoka, who is also a research fellow at the University of Oxford, was invited to the Global Politics course, also taught this semester by Professor and Rector Arben Hajrullahu. He spoke today in the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Philosophy on the topic “Globalization and De‑globalization.”

Among other points, Professor Visoka noted that Kosovo was fortunate that NATO’s intervention took place during the peak of liberal globalization (1990–2007), which was backed by many democratic nations around the world. He explained that while globalization often created opportunities for better healthcare and education, boosted the economy, and spread technology, it also led to new inequalities and social exploitation. Professor Visoka pointed out that a kind of de‑globalization process is now underway, with some countries, including the United States, turning back toward national sovereignty and borders by withdrawing from previously signed international agreements and treaties.

Together with students from the Political Science Department and Professor Rector Hajrullahu, Professor Visoka also analyzed the U.S. National Security Strategy for 2025. The discussion concluded that the U.S. no longer sees itself as an interventionist superpower, but rather as a strong nation that engages only in matters of strategic interest.

On Friday, May 8 2026, in a lecture organized by UP professor and head of the Department of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Kreshnike Dedushi, the internationally recognized physician Dr. Dukagjin Blakaj spoke about Hypofractionated RT and Immunotherapy in recurrent/persistent H&N Cancer Patient.

Professor and oncologist Blakaj discussed immunotherapy, one of the newest cancer treatments, which helps the body’s own immune system fight cancer cells. He also shared personal ties to UP and Kosovo, noting that both of his parents graduated from the University of Prishtina; his father later taught at the university, and his mother worked as a doctor.

In April 2026, Professor Zanfina Ademi from Australia’s Monash University, who is also affiliated with UP, delivered a lecture in the Pharmacy Department of UP’s Faculty of Medicine. She is the world’s most‑cited Albanian scientist.
