Their short film, From 6 to 5, was made by students in the Department of Dramatic Arts and produced by the University of Prishtina. It follows a day in the life of a hotel security guard and marks an important achievement for the university’s new Camera and Film Editing program.

The filmmakers, Ardian Dubova and Erlisë Beqiri, were joined by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Hazir Haziri, and professors Astrit Kabashi, Isak Duraku, and Latif Hasolli. They were welcomed by Rector Prof. Arben Hajrullahu and Vice-Rectors Albana Berisha-Qehaja, Majlinda Gjelaj, and Adem Beha.

During the meeting, the students, professors, and actors were wished every success in representing the Faculty of Arts and the University of Prishtina at this well-known international festival, in a competition among 40 films selected from 38 countries.

The film was created as Ardian Dubova’s diploma project, mentored by Prof. Isak Duraku, with Erlisë Beqiri as director and screenwriter, Ardian Dubova handling cinematography and production, and Fjolla Mani responsible for set and costume design. It highlights the strong collaboration between departments in the Faculty of Arts.

The leading roles were played by actors Astrit Kabashi and Eshref Durmishi, who took part without any payment.

The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is one of the world’s leading short film festivals, and being selected is a historic success for the University of Prishtina. Films chosen for this festival also have a real chance of competing for the European Film Awards, presented by the European Film Academy.

Each year, the Faculty of Arts also organizes the UPward Student Film Festival as part of the University of Prishtina Summer International University.
