A guide for the use of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) by University of Prishtina students was approved at the Senate meeting held on March 4, 2026. It promotes a responsible and thoughtful use of these technology tools, in line with the highest European and global standards.

The guide has been drafted according to the approach promoted by UNESCO, which places “humans at the center” and treats generative artificial intelligence as a tool to support the development of skills, creativity, critical thinking, transparency, and human ethics.

The structure of this highly relevant document consists of six parts. The first part establishes the institutional foundation and explains why the proper use of generative AI is important for the University. The second part explains the concept of this technology. The third part outlines principles for using artificial intelligence. The fourth part covers the declaration, citation, and verification of Gen AI use. The fifth part addresses disciplinary measures in case the guide is not followed. The sixth part allows for the ongoing updating of this document to keep pace with future developments in artificial intelligence.

The document guides the use of generative artificial intelligence using a traffic‑light principle, distinguishing cases where these tools are prohibited, permitted with restrictions, or encouraged.

The guide for University of Prishtina students on the use of generative artificial intelligence can be found and read here.

Keeping pace with developments and the times we live in is one of the University of Prishtina’s main priorities. For this reason, the Center for Artificial Intelligence (AIUP) has been established, and a detailed plan for a full digital transformation over three to five years has been prepared.
